The park is a small open space of 1.27 hectares situated in the heart of Ashley Cross Conservation Area which was originally opened in 1890 by the Prince of Wales. It forms a very valuable local facility hosting a number of community events on an annual basis. Many features of the original park have been lost over time and the proposed design intends to restore these whilst adding new features to reflect the changing needs and aspirations of park users. Following public consultation, the scheme to be implemented includes a salvaged Victorian fountain currently being restored, an informal performance space, an integrated toddlers play area including a story telling space, petanque area, and upgraded paths and park entrances. |
