The project comprises a small, select development of retirement homes within Cerne Abbas, a village in the Dorset AONB chalkland landscape. The layout is based around an existing group of refurbished farm buildings and newly built homes constructed of local materials. A simple path arrangement and clipped box hedges from a strong identifiable boundary structure to contain carefully controlled planting colours and textures within a courtyard format.

The project received a coveted DAILY MAIL GREENLEAF HOUSING AWARD. Renowned environmentalist Chris Baines of the judging panel described the Barton Farm project as a “credit to the industry”.
