A privately funded hospice project on a visually sensitive urban fringe site located outside the local plan designated development area of Yeovil in Somerset. The Landscape Practice has provided landscape visual impact assessment and feasibility advice to negotiate with the local planning authority and obtain planning approvals. The production of a landscape masterplan has led to detailed design and site administration of hard and soft landscape spaces.
Curved parking areas with SUDS integrated drainage are fed from the main driveway and cars are concealed behind sweeping evergreen oak hedges. Planting areas are generously furnished with some mature stock for instant effect and establishment. Small individual patio areas at the rear of the building lead onto calm, open grass areas. Two internal building courtyards are simple but bold design statements. |
