Hythe Marina Village is a unique marina housing development. The first of its kind in this country, each house has direct access to its own water frontage and private berth. Boat access to the Southampton Water is by a lock which also maintains a stable water level within the marina basin.

Our director, Philip Hanson was responsible for conceptual design, site masterplanning and detailed design for the major part of the development from 1985-1988. The Landscape Practice designed, detailed and provided construction administration advice for the hard and soft landscape elements of the final two phases of this high quality development. Intimate courtyards with warm coloured surface materials provide access and welcome frontages to the split level houses. Terraced patios face onto the marina areas providing private access to boats. Controlled views link the divided space activities. Public areas with contrasting materials provide frontage access to the Southampton Water.
