A courtyard garden for a private client in Kent. Originally the location of a World War 2 air raid shelter, this area forms part of a more extensive and established grounds of a large house. Layered water pools with controlled movement flank the central axial steps which provide access from the new conservatory at the rear of the house to the wider garden areas beyond. A small specially commissioned bronze table fountain forms a centrepiece of the design. The existing high garden wall was repaired, rebuilt and extended to enclose the new garden space. Natural materials have been used throughout to reflect the character of the house and the existing garden.
