An urban regeneration project forming part of the Hampshire Country Towns Initiative to improve the fabric core of the Hampshire market towns. Public and local business participation and involvement was crucial to the design process. The Landscape Practice prepared the masterplan and detailed construction proposals and subsequently provided on site implementation administration in conjunction with highway engineers. The design intentionally creates a restrained pallet as a complementary backcloth to the rich tapestry of buildings in the Conservation Area.

The project gained a CIVIC TRUST AWARD and the judges commented: “At Fordingbridge the extent of change is remarkable - ranging from better traffic management to new public spaces. The result is unforced and convincing”
